This SAMS debudder uses a transformer to reduce 240v mains power to a safe and powerful 24v debudding tool. Reaches operating temperature of 580°C in 15 minutes. This tool has been used by some of our large-scale rearer clients and proven to be powerful and reliable in all conditions. It is supplied with a 2m lead to the transformer, and then a 4m heavy-duty power lead to the debudder. This ensures full power is supplied to the debudder in all conditions, even when used with an inverter, generator, or extension lead. We strongly recommend this tool for larger-scale operations wanting the convenience of electric debudding.

This tool from Germany is our premium gas debudder. Ideal for the large-scale calf rearer. It is supplied in a sturdy metal carrying case, complete with two 110ml cans of liquid gas. Each can should give up to two hours of operation. Cans are simply screwed into the GasBuddex handle. Lighting is by a press-button piezo igniter. Gas flow is controlled with a rotating knob. Operating temperature of 650°C is reached in 2-3 minutes. The debudder is supplied with a spare jet and seal ring, along with Allen keys for fitting.
Length 31cm overall. Weight 900gm.

Our own-brand Farmhand debudder has been completely redesigned for 2019. We are producing this device to be the most rugged and most reliable of our debudders range. This is the one that we recommend for vets and contractors. The one that will stand continuous hard usage.

The tool is supplied with a QCC fitting for direct attachment to regular 4kg or 9kg LPG bottles. Gas control is on the handle, so a regulator is not required on the bottle. The hose is a generous 3.2m long. This tool is fast heating, and will maintain a high temperature even in cool or windy conditions.

The Bakelite handle remains cool, even after long use. Handle is an ergonomic design, with heat shield and pressure flange, and remains cool even after continuous use. A sturdy hang-hook is incorporated.

Dehorning wire has been used for many years for removing mature or semi mature horns. This special wire is made of steel with very fine saw teeth. A short piece is locked into the special handles and then simply used as a saw around the horn base, as close to the skull as possible. Change wire after 2 or 3 horns. Use hot iron or Dehorning Packing to stop bleeding. Allow animal to stand quietly afterwards. Do not mix immediately with other stock. (Also useful for de-tusking boars.)

This 50cm long, all stainless steel bridle, can be used with dehorning wire handles (as below), or other convenient handle. This accomplishes a quick and efficient dehorning job on larger horns, but be sure to follow all usual dehorning rules and staunch bleeding. (Rings 9.6mm i.d.)
We recommend the large Convex up to mature stock, but where horns are not at maximum growth. The ‘parrot beak’ jaw can be easier to use than the Keystone style, and the tool is more robust. Maximum blade opening 63mm. Replacement blade available. Handles 70cm long. Length 104cm o.a. Weight 7.5kg.

The James Scully Keystone model is suitable up to mature stock, with fully grown horns. Flat-shear V jaws give cleaner cuts with less force required. Eccentric gears on tapered spindle give greatest power at start of stroke, and fastest cut at the end. Blade opening to 90mm. Handles 70cm long. Length 115cm o.a. Weight 8kg.

These three items are from dehorning specialists Keystone Dehorner, USA. They are to reduce fly strike, blood loss and trauma following dehorning of cattle. Small pieces are broken off the fibre pad and pushed into the horn cavity. (The pad should do about 25 horns.) The fibre is then covered with either packing tape or packing paste, to secure the fibre in the horn. The paste is thick and tar-like, with an integrated lid brush. The packing and tape or paste fall off naturally as the horn heals.

Use a quick spray of this prior to any mechanical dehorning. Freezing the immediate area tissue defeats pain. Use for any area where pain might result from a veterinary procedure. Easy-to-use aerosol.

The Express debudder is made in France, and is supplied in a heavy-duty metal (burn proof) carry case, complete with two cans of gas and spare parts. One of the nicest features of this tool is the pistol-grip style. This makes it very comfortable to hold and use. The flame is ignited by the pistol trigger. Heat is adjusted by a knob at the back. Full 600°C operating temperature is reached in 3 minutes. A full gas canister should give 2 hours of full operation. The back shroud incorporates two legs for standing the debudder upright when hot. The tool is lightweight at only 650gm (with full gas tin). A unique and patented feature of this tool is a heat shield incorporated just behind the burning head. This deflects heat away from the tool body, the calf's ear and your hand. The reversible cautery tip features a deep cavity and a thin wall, allowing for good penetration and burn depth, even on slightly larger horns. Supplied with spare jet and replacement piezo lighter assembly.

*Tip is reversible

Debudding and dehorning of stronger calves can be a difficult exercise. This positive restraint solves the problem. The calf’s head is manoeuvred into the restraint, and then the chain is hooked over the head, locking the calf in place. The restraint design ensures easy access to the calf’s horns. The dehorning restraint will fit over timber rails to 55mm (2¼”) width. Suitable for calves up to a maximum of 3 months age.
