The Vink Beef Cattle is an upgraded version of the standard and famous Vink Calving Jack. It is specially constructed of heavy duty stainless steel components to fit larger beef cattle. The main pole is 1.8m long and is a larger tube made of heavier material. The rump frame is enlarged to 57cm width to suit very heavy European breeds such as Charolais etc. The frame is also of stronger materials to prevent any bending, and the traction device features a longer handle for greater power with reduced effort in difficult births. Also the pull is sequential on this model, to reduce birthing trauma with large calves.

The world-wide best selling calving aid from Europe. Hangs-on to the cow whether she is standing or goes down in the middle of the job. The permanently attached holding frame fits over the cow’s hip bones, acting as a steady and fixed base from which the Calving Jack tilts and pulls regardless of whether the cow stands, sits or stretches out. This calf puller was developed after extensive institutional research into the forces required for the safest and most humane birthing assistance. All stainless steel. Standard pole is 1.6m long and long pole 1.8m long. The long pole will fit all Vink Calving Jacks. Rump frame 51cm wide (inside measurement).

Quick-Lift is new from Shoof's product development department. It's features are - simplicity of use, ease of use, big 50mm-o.d. pipe is comfortable fit for cow pin bones, high strength and light weight. The Quick-Lift is simply slipped onto the pin bones and ratcheted tight with a few quick strokes on the ratchet lever. If the cow needs to be released quickly, the ratchet lever is simply pulled down - just like normal load tie-downs, and the clamp instantly opens. Quick, easy, no fuss. No handle to lose, or spindle to damage or bend. Replacement ratchet assembly is available (complete with strap) and is easily fitted. This is a great device and a credit to the Shoof development team. Design application No. NZ418621.

When a calf is born with a contracted flexor tendon, the fetlock joint is caused to knuckle under, causing serious limitation to the mobility of the calf. The BOS splint is applied to the back of the leg, with the splint bottom edge at ground level. With application of the splint the calf should have normal mobility immediately. Remove the splint after 4-5 days. Splint length 40cm o.a.

There is a long tradition of using jute for calf covers. The material is warm and strong, with lots of trapped air for insulation and breathability. Our product development team have designed their new Farmhand cover to be quick and easy to fit. There is no neck strap. Just pull on over the head like a jersey, then secure the hind strap. (Dimension is length along back of cover.)
Developed from Shoof’s famous Speedy Feeder calf feed bottle, this drencher uses a standard and well-proven design rigid drench probe. This gives a useful flow-adjustable stomach feeder. The probe assembly (probe with lid) is available separately to fit your standard Speedy Feeder bottle. (Not suitable for Easy Feeder as cap does not have an air inlet).
NB: Full container must not be carried by probe.

Easy Feeder and Speedy Feeder are made by Shoof. Easy Feeder is a single-speed nursing bottle and the Speedy Feeder is three-speed. With Speedy Feeder when you get a real fast drinker, switch to ‘Fast’ and let him go for it. When you have a weak premature-born calf, needing careful feeding, switch to ‘Stop’ or ‘Slow’ and let him take milk as he can cope without drowning. The three speeds control the air inflow to the bottle, and thus the milk outflow. Reduce time wasted on speedsters and prevent drowning weaklings, all using the same bottle and teat.
These feeders also feature intelligently designed bottle with multi-directional easy-grip hand hold. The teat is mounted low in the cap to empty the bottle contents completely. The wide 70mm-diameter neck ensures easier filling and cleaning, and the coarse-thread cap is quick and easy to fit. The wide base gives the bottle maximum stability when standing. Spare teats are supplied as fitted teat/cap assemblies, green cap for Easy Feeder and blue cap for Speedy Feeder, or as bare teat. (Teat replacement needs some strength to achieve.)

The Chin-Ball Mating Harness was developed in New Zealand, and is used around the world for identifying mated cows. The robust harness/halter has a cone-shaped device underneath which contains a freely-rotating ball, working on the same principle as a ball-pen.
The stainless-steel container can be filled with ink of the desired colour. Each fill is enough to mark 25-30 cows (approx. 0.5 litre). When a cow is properly in season she will receive very clearly identifiable back markings from the bull (or cow) wearing the device. Marks fade in 4 to 14 days. We suggest changing colours on a 3 week cycle, to prevent any confusion. Ink is available in 1 litre containers. Ink is oil based.
NB: Ink must be mixed thoroughly if it has been stored for some time.

Hornex has been used by New Zealand breeders for more than 50 years. The 20gm tube will de-bud about 45 calves. Now supplied complete with applicator cap which allows good visibility of the amount of paste being used (see fig.1) and then serves to spread evenly over the horn bud (see fig.2). The skirt around the applicator rim ensures that the paste is contained on the horn, and is not spread over sensitive skin tissue outside the horn. Hornex is best used as soon as horn buds are clearly felt and visible. Generally this is between one and three weeks after birth.
