Adhere sets firm, but retains flexibility so that it moves with the natural movement of the hoof wall. Adhere has an initial set time of 1 minute, but doesn't fully cure for 6 minutes. “Shoof” is a shoe-for-a-hoof. This product is used for the treatment of lameness in cattle.
The Shoof is purposefully constructed in a very open manner. This allows the hoof to “breathe” which is essential for a fast recovery. The medication and bandage supplied with the Shoof are also essential for successful treatment.
The Shoof copper-sulphate medication is effective in curing and hardening the hoof-horn, even in the worst conditions. The special Shoof bandage supplied acts like a filter, keeping dirt out and the copper-sulphate in, even if the animal is walking in very bad conditions (eg: dairy farm roads and yards, and muddy paddocks).
Cattle Shoof can be re-used many times with our Shoof Refill-Kit components. Non-standard bandage or medication may cause failure of Shoof. Each Cattle Shoof will last years of re-use.

Walkease (say ’walkies’) is the internationally renowned hoof repair block from Shoof International Ltd. Walkease has been created as an early-intervention hoof claw prosthetic. It is not intended to replace other conventional claw shoes currently on the market. The Walkease block is made from flexible EVA material, that is soothing for the cow to walk on. The greatest advantage of the Walkease is its speed and ease of application. The Starter Kit comprises 10 Walkease blocks, 10 tubes of special Walkease ‘superglue’ (211 648), a special Walkease hoof rasp (203 624) and 10 pairs of latex gloves, all packed in a useful resealable plastic container. The wedge blocks are very helpful for putting the cow’s weight forward in cases of a worn-down heel. (see further information this page.) For further us,e extra blocks are available in a 10-pack box. Extra glue is also available. A practical ‘first-purchase’ would be the ‘mixed sizes’ starter kit (212 102). This has blocks as follows: 3 x small, 3 x medium and 4 x large. This will allow the user to determine the preferred block size for their own herd. 

Walkease blocks can be used either way up, so suit both left and right claws. The block should stay on from 7-21 days, which is generally long enough for the treated claw to have made a recovery in cases where the trauma was relatively mild.

Walkease glue is now supplied in 2ml aluminium foil tubes in a dispenser pack. These give maximum life to the glue. Each tube is ideal for one block application. The seal on the tube is pierced by screwing the cap down tight. The tip protector is then removed for the glue to flow from the extended tip. The tube can be resealed if all the glue is not used.

Correctly formulated solution to ensure consistent mastitis testing. (Non-professional solutions can give varying results.) Generally testing requires 1 litre per 50 cows. Solution is added to the RMT paddle in at least the same amount as the milk. Ideally the solution is used from a squirt or pump bottle. RMT solution is non-toxic, but is coloured blue for easy identification. Coagulation of the milk sample indicates the presence of somatic cells in high concentration.

RMT testing has always been quite a tedious procedure either slowing up milking considerably, or requiring an extra hand in the shed. The X-Spurt paddle makes RMT testing a fast and efficient one-hand operation as the 300ml (10fl.oz) X-Spurt reagent reservoir is also the handle for the paddle. Milk is entered in the paddle chambers and the paddle tilted in the normal way to reduce the samples to the usual 3ml (0.1fl.oz). A quick squeeze of the X-Spurt handle then enters equal amounts of reagent at the same time to all four samples. Swirling the paddle mixes the samples for usual coagulation recognition. The bottle capacity is 300ml, enough to RMT test about 15 cows.

Excess hair growth on udders can be a serious source of contamination of milk, and also a factor causing mastitis infections. Eliminating excess udder hair reduces significantly the amount of mud and manure accumulating on the udder. This dirt can be a significant cause of environmental mastitis. Udder Singe uses a low-temperature butane flame to burn hair away in 1-2 seconds, without causing any pain or damage to udder or teats tissue. Singing of udder hair is common practice in the northern hemisphere. The Shoof Udder Singe is supplied complete with a 600ml canister of butane gas. The wand is 75cm long with a plastic grip. The flame is controlled with an adjustable valve, to produce a ‘lazy yellow flame’ which will not burn the udder (This flame can be tested by running your hand through it). One can of gas should singe 300-400 udders.

Following on from their very successful Cowslips™ product, Giltspur of Ireland have introduced a unique new horse ‘shoe’ that can be used for thin soles, brittle feet and is useful in some cases of laminitis or other hoof issues. Horse-Slips™ comprises a 1.5m-long coil of unique PVC-based flexible moulding that is glued around the perimeter of the hoof, using adhesive such as Equilox or similar (see above - not supplied in kit). The strip is cut to the exact required length, and glued in place. Horse-Slips™ comes in two sizes:
Small - coil 12cm diameter with 20mm sole-edge cover. Use for foals and ponies.
Large - coil 16cm diameter with 25mm sole-edge cover. Use for larger horses, hacks and thoroughbreds.
To use Horse-Slips™, cut off the length required and ensure the hoof is well prepared, clean and dry. Fill the moulding cavity with glue and press onto the hoof. Let horse stand quietly for 24 hours. When correctly applied, Horse-Slips™ should remain in place for 4-6 weeks. Once removed, any remaining product or residue should be rasped off. One Horse-Slips™ coil should treat 4 or 5 hooves.

The Sheepmat is manufactured in the same tradition as the famous Hoofmat for cows. It uses 31mm foam in a quality fabric outer. This should suit most existing race systems but the mat must be placed on concrete, wood, or other impervious surface. For successful treatment use in a situation where the animals will not be walking in dirty conditions, or for long distances, immediately after crossing the mat. Management systems may have to be developed to enable lame or at-risk animals to be treated to cross the mat at least once per day. Sheepmat can be used with about 10 litres of 2% copper sulphate solution, or other remedy as may be recommended by your veterinarian. Size of the sheepmat is 1.5m long x 0.46m wide.
